Green Sunbird

Sustainable Communities

Green Sunbird works to create sustainable communities. In order to be truly sustainable, a community needs to move towards self-sufficiency in energy, but also should embrace a range of other values. Clearly, this would include construction using low carbon, locally sourced materials. Integrating jobs and transport forms the basis for an efficient use of resources: building infrastructure elements to maximise locations which can be reached on foot from every home means that the overall design will embrace the very traditional models of villages that have grown organically, rather than the planned dormitory towns of the late 20th century. A range of facilities needs to be provided to help local people to conserve natural resources as well as cultural ones. In addition, it is important to provide the basis for community self-determination. Our role is to provide the end to end services which allow all these elements to be co-ordinated successfully.
